Christian's Story

This blog is for the silenced, the marginalized, and the victims of the many types of abuse that the leadership and members of Liberty Church in O'Fallon Missouri have inflicted on their members and any who opposed their love for control. These are the stories of the witnesses:

Christian's Story

"I have not been back to a single church since. LCC has ruined my perceptions of Sunday services and has made me fearful of ever going back. In a funny way, I’m almost glad I was introduced to a cult like this for two reasons. First of all, it gave me an example of the kind of teachings and people to never bow down to. Second of all, thinking back to this experience makes me thankful for where I am today, in a much better and more secure position in life than I was when attending Liberty. As they say that something good comes out of everything, I do not wish on anyone some of the things I witnessed and heard about what the leaders of LCC were doing to all of their victims.
They say god is supposed to link with the church to help and love others. My experience at Liberty couldn’t have been further from the truth. I heard much gossip, hate, and drama within the youth groups and Sunday sessions. I attended this church about three years ago when a friend of mine from a local gym I worked at invited me to attend the Sunday services and meet some of his close peers at the time. They seemed fairly welcoming at first, but started to seclude me from their activities and left me hanging a lot once they figured out I wasn’t like them.

One of the group leaders, Mike Bond, and I got along well at first. We would talk mainly sports and how the Cardinals, Rams, and Blues were doing. Never anything about religion or politics, since I had more interests than just what was in the bible. Apparently, I had heard that this leader had considered me more of a “project” than a friend. I never talked religion or law with him, and he automatically assumed I was against his beliefs. Another incident took place with this same leader, in one of the youth group meetings, where they preached to never think about sex. Really? (Doesn’t god make this pleasurable so we can reproduce). I had made a small comment about this, then everyone looked at me disapprovingly. Mike threw me against the wall and screamed at me “You’re not being a good Christian!!!,” Then I ran out and have never seen those people since, hopefully for eternity.
As I would be listening to these leaders each Sunday, their teachings definitely seemed fishy. I recall a time when one of the preachers was ordering everyone with a gay friend to break off the friendship because apparently it was sinful. They preach to love and accept flaws, but they couldn’t be further from the truth. Everyone would go off on their own cliques, while I was left hanging and eventually that led me to get out.

I started normal attendance at this church in late July 2013 and dwindled my attendance by that December. Thankfully, I did not attend a long time but had seen and heard enough. In June 2014, Mike reached out to me and attempted to reel me back into this cult. I kept refusing and he got pushy. He said people had asked about my absence, but I knew it was a trap knowing my lack of friendship with this group of people and immoral teachings. Then after enough attempts we broke contact with each other and that is the last I’ve heard of anybody from this group. The immoral and controlling teachings of this church should provide an example of how to not run your life. We should have some freedom of choice on how to practice, as the lord would want us to."
